"Star-Lord" Pratt failed in his audition for "Thor" and almost left the MCU

Before Chris Pratt joined the "Guardians of the Galaxy" trilogy and put on the red-eyed helmet of "Star-Lord", he almost gave up the opportunity to audition for Marvel movies because of "bad experiences".

Pratt revealed in an interview: "I once auditioned for Thor, but not to play Thor. I auditioned for a supporting role, but I didn't get a response. Generally speaking, the crew will give you a feedback. I remember the casting director said, 'Wow, your choice is really bold', and the subtext is 'Put away the traces of your performance.'"

"I got to the point where I didn't want to audition for Marvel movies anymore, I was like, 'This is stupid, I'm never doing Marvel movies again,'" he said.

As for which Marvel movies he auditioned for, the answer is a bit surprising: "I auditioned for all of them. As long as there was a male character who looked a bit like me, I would try to get in. Then I would submit an audition video and then they would say, 'Don't come.' Sometimes I would get in and then they would say, 'Don't come next time.'"

Finally, when casting for the first Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014 began, casting director Sarah Finn urged director James Gunn to meet with Pratt, who had been well-liked by the audience for his silly role as Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation, and thus got the audition opportunity.

Although Gunn was not very interested at first, he later found that Pratt was an ideal candidate for Star-Lord. Gunn finally won the role of Star-Lord for Pratt, allowing Pratt, who was in a bottleneck period of audition, to finally be reborn.

At first, Pratt recalled, Gunn said during the audition: "I don't know what you're doing. You can't do this."

Gunn then added: "Now is the moment. You throw all that away and just be true to yourself."

Everyone knows what happened next. Pratt starred in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" trilogy, starred in the three "Jurassic World" films, and starred in many movies in succession.
