DC Films President: JJ's Black Superman project is still in progress

DC Films President James Gunn recently revealed that they are currently continuing to work on "The Black Superman", which is led by JJ Abrams and written by "Black Panther" screenwriter Ta-Nehisi Coates. This project and the "Superman" reboot movie "Superman: Legacy" have their own development space and do not conflict with each other.

The first work of the newly launched DC Universe, "Superman: Legacy", is scheduled to be released in 2025. In an interview with the media, Gunn said that this does not mean that other "Superman" works will disappear.

Gunn believes that Black Superman is an exciting work, and said that he knows that Chantal Nong, who is in charge of the project, is also very excited about it. Although Gunn himself has not read the script, there is another world "Elseworlds" in the DC series, including "Joker" in 2019, "Joker 2" to be released this year, and the TV series "Superman & Lois". Therefore, if there is a suitable opportunity and time point, it is possible to launch the Black Superman movie.
