Shigeru Miyamoto: More Nintendo IP-adapted movies are on the way

According to Nikkei News, Nintendo's legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto said that Nintendo will undoubtedly continue to produce movies adapted from its IP.

Shigeru Miyamoto is the creator of many classic Nintendo series, such as "Mario", "The Legend of Zelda", "Pikmin", "Donkey Kong" and "Star Fox", and is also the producer of "Super Mario Bros. The Movie" released by Illumination and Universal Pictures.

Although "Super Mario Bros.: The Movie" received mediocre media reviews, it quickly became the most successful video game-adapted movie, with global box office revenue exceeding $800 million.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie isn't the first film to be based on a Nintendo IP. The controversial live-action Super Mario Bros. movie was released in 1993. A few years ago, Nintendo's Detective Pikachu movie was also a huge success, with Ryan Reynolds voicing the character, and a sequel is already on the way, directed by Jonathan Krisel and written by Chris Galletta.
