The May issue of Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine recently announced that Yoshino Satsuki's manga "Genkidanza" will be adapted into a live-action TV series. The manga will return to serialization in a limited time starting in the same issue. The manga was first serialized on SE's online manga website "GANGAN Online" in 2009, then serialized in a physical monthly magazine in 2014, and completed in 2018, with a total of 18 volumes. The 12-episode TV animation adaptation of the manga was aired in July 2014. The original story mainly tells about the protagonist, Seishu Handa, a calligrapher who was born and raised in a big city. He was exiled to the remote Goto Islands by his father because he fought with the curator and asked him to find back the "missing part of human nature". On the island full of natural landscapes, he met the innocent girl Kotoishi Naru and many islanders, and gradually learned the warmth of human nature in daily life. |
