Sony's Spider-Man multiverse is getting a new animated short this summer called The Spider Within, which will be set in the same world as the upcoming Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and the first Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. According to Variety, Spider Inside will premiere at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June. The story revolves around Miles Morales dealing with the responsibilities that come with his multiple identities. Later in the film, he experiences a panic attack (acute anxiety attack), but learns to ask others for help. The short film will be produced by members of the LENS Incubation Program, a mentoring program that places candidates from underrepresented backgrounds in creative leadership positions. In the first round, candidates were asked to create a world in the Spider-Man universe, which resulted in the short film. In the second round, participants will build a new story in the universe of Sony Animation's K-Pop: Devil May Cry. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is set to hit theaters on June 2. |
