Rumor has it that the Superman movie trailer could be released later next week

The new Superman movie trailer is highly anticipated as it will give fans their first glimpse at the first feature-length film in the DC Universe. After some concerns that the trailer might not debut this month, recent news has brought more encouraging news.

James Gunn's Superman movie is being seen as the true start of the DC Universe. While the animated series Bio-Commando is the first project to be launched in the DC Universe, it has been described as a "soft introduction" to this new DC franchise. As the first feature film in Gunn's DC Universe, Superman carries a lot of expectations. Fans who loved or disliked the completed DC Extended Universe (DCEU, also known as the "Snyderverse") will want to see how Gunn's version of Superman compares to it, and Warner Bros. is undoubtedly eager for this movie to succeed at the box office after the DC movies have failed at the box office. It was previously rumored that a new Superman trailer would be released during the holiday season to give fans a clearer idea of what to expect from the film, and it seems that this is still the plan.

In a recent appearance on The Hot Mic hosted by John Rocha and Jeff Snyder, Snyder mentioned that a press conference for the new Superman trailer will be held on Monday, December 15. The trailer will be released to the public later that week. The "Puck" website also reported that the Superman trailer will debut next week, adding that Super Dog Krypton may be the featured character in the trailer.

This lines up with some previous reports that claimed the Superman trailer release date was set for December 19th, ahead of Disney's The Lion King: The Legend of Mufasa. However, there have been some reasons for concern since those reports emerged. First, it was rumored that the initial cut of the Superman trailer had Warner Bros. executives worried, prompting them to ask Gunn to re-edit the trailer. Some fans believe this explains why it has not been released despite Gunn saying it was on his hard drive. While Gunn admitted that the Superman trailer still needed work, he refuted the idea that Warner Bros. was unhappy with it. Gunn explained that only DC Films was involved in the editing of the trailer, and that he has gone through similar situations with every Guardians of the Galaxy movie in order to get the perfect trailer for the marketing team.

Secondly, in response to a user asking if the trailer would still premiere in December, Gunn replied with the word "Still?", which cast doubt on whether the Superman trailer could be released in December.

However, if Snyder and the "Puck" website are accurate, the Superman trailer will debut next week as previously stated. This is perfect timing, as "Mufasa: The Lion King" and "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" will be released during the Christmas holiday, which means that the Superman trailer can be released before these two films, thus reaching a wide audience. It remains to be seen how fans and ordinary moviegoers will react.

The Superman movie is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 11, 2025.
