According to Variety, two Hollywood superstars, Robert Downey Jr. and Matt Damon, are in talks to join Nolan's new film "Oppenheimer." It is not yet clear what roles Downey Jr. and Damon will play in the film. "Oppenheimer" is adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning book written by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin. It is a World War II-themed biographical film, focusing on the story of Robert Oppenheimer, the "father of the atomic bomb" in the United States, who led the creation of the world's first atomic bomb in 1945. The film is distributed by Universal Pictures with a production budget of US$100 million. The film will be released in North America on July 21, 2023. Nolan is assembling a star-studded cast for the film, which includes Irish actor Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer and British actress Emily Blunt as Oppenheimer's wife. While exact plot details are being kept secret, the story is expected to dramatize the process of creating nuclear weapons. |
