Toei President Osamu Tezuka dies at 62

Today (February 14), according to the Hochi Shimbun, Toei Co., Ltd. President Osamu Tezuka passed away at the age of 62. Chairman Kenji Tada concurrently served as president. The funeral and farewell ceremony were held privately by relatives. Osamu Tezuka took over the position of president from former president Kenji Tada in June 2020 and served as president for less than three years.

After joining Toei in 1983, Osamu Tezuka devoted himself to TV drama production and created classic Japanese dramas such as "Sukebanchuka" and "Forensic Science". His warm personality is unique among all the presidents of Toei and is loved by many employees. On January 31, 2023, he also attended the New Year's press conference held by the Japan Film Producers Association. At the meeting, it was stated that Toei animation works performed well, setting a record high revenue of about 32.6 billion yen.
