According to a joint special report from Variety and piracy research company Muso, among the most pirated film and television works in the United States in 2022, "Saw Man" and "Bleach" are the most pirated works in anime.

Anime accounted for half of the most pirated TV shows and movies in the United States last year.

The top 10 most pirated works and their corresponding pirated demand ratios are as follows:

2. "Chainsaw Man" Season 1 (13%)

3. Korean entertainment program "Running Man" Season 1 (12%)

4. Rick and Morty Season 6 (12%)

5. Moon Knight Season 1 (9%)

6. Deathly Hallows Season 1 (9%)

7. "I Want to Become a Powerful Shadow!" animation (8%)

8. The Lord of the Rings: The Power of the Rings Season 1 (7%)

9. "Spy Kids" Season 1 (7%)

10. The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 (6%)

According to Variety, Muso’s data “measures activity across a range of piracy sites, including illegal streaming, torrents, web downloads, and stream scraping platforms.” Another YouGov survey commissioned by Variety VIP+ found that 60% of respondents said they knew they had pirated content that was available on legal streaming services.

Variety also said that streaming media is losing more than imagined. Netflix is ​​said to lose $9.1 billion a year due to password theft, and a Synamedia report found that 65% of users who share passwords visit pirated movie and TV sites every week.
