The final scene of League of Legends: Two Cities was finalized six years ago

Rewrites are not uncommon in the world of television, especially for a show as complex and sprawling as "League of Legends: The War of Two Towers," but one of the show's lead writers says they kept some of the show's final scenes largely unchanged for six years.

In an interview, Amanda Overton, writer and producer of Two Towers, explained that the team behind the Netflix animated series is "very passionate about efficient storytelling" and "likes to just tell or show things once, and if we can, we prefer to show rather than tell." This intense focus also means that the team behind Two Towers has a rough idea of where the plot is going many years ago.

“We had written the ending six years ago, different versions of the ending,” Overton says. “And the scene with Jinx and Vi, the final scene between them, is almost exactly the same scene we wrote six years ago. We always had a general idea of where we were going. We knew what the moments were that were important for us to show, and I think that’s the beauty of A War of Two Towers—it’s really one of those stories that gets deeper and deeper the more you watch it, because it’s so layered and there’s so much to it.”

“And the more you interact with the fans, the more you discover,” she continued. “Every time I watch it, I discover some detail that the artists added. It’s one of those things where the more you get involved, the richer the story becomes, and for us, we think that’s the kind of storytelling we want to do — one that makes people want to think more and spend more time with it.”

Overton's comments follow fervent fan speculation that the second and final season of A Clash of Two Cities was rushed out, which series creator Christian Link addressed in a 500-word social media response. "It would have been nice to have more time to do a second season, or extra time to add to the show, but we don't have that," Link said, before noting that the team was "extremely lucky to have been given these ridiculously high budgets from Riot to make A Clash of Two Cities. We all feel incredibly lucky. No one else gets those kinds of budgets. Please don't forget that."
