Dwayne Johnson reveals Warner Bros. doesn't want Cavill to return as Superman

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is celebrating the success of Black Adam in theaters and on iTunes. Henry Cavill, who previously played Superman in Man of Steel and Justice League, returns to play a cameo in the film. But Johnson said Warner Bros. doesn't want him to come back to play Superman again. But he's still "fighting hard" to make it happen.

In a video released, Johnson said he wanted to establish Black Adam as "the most powerful, unstoppable force in the DC Universe." To establish this, Johnson believes "we have to bring back the most powerful, unstoppable force in all of time and space. Do you know who I'm talking about? That's Superman, of course. And that's Henry Cavill."

Johnson then revealed that the studio (Warner Bros.) "unreasonably and unforgivably" did not want Cavill to return, but Johnson would not take no for an answer and was working with the team to make this a reality.

"We've had strategic conversations for years about bringing Henry Cavill back and years and years of it, and we're not going to accept being told no. There's no way, no logically viable way to try to build the DC Universe without the most powerful force and the greatest Super Hero of all time. It's just not possible."

Johnson continued: "It all comes back to Superman, and you have to have Superman in the world. So that's why we fought so hard to bring back Superman, Henry Cavill, and not any other Superman. Henry Cavill, by the way, is the Superman of our generation, and in my opinion, the best Superman. I mean I respect the other Superman actors, especially Christopher Reeve, but he is the greatest Superman of all time."
