Rihanna stars in new movie The Smurfs as Smurfette

Recently, Rihanna announced at an event that she will star in the new movie "The Smurfs" and voice the character "Blue Sister". Rihanna will also serve as the film's producer and compose new songs for the film.

Rihanna made the announcement at the Las Vegas Film Industry Expo, where she joked: "I tried to get the role of Papa Smurf but it didn't work out." Rihanna, who is pregnant with her second child, revealed she is in her third trimester.

The new movie "The Smurfs" is scheduled to be released in North America on February 14, 2025, jointly launched by Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon. The film is adapted from the comics of Belgian artist Peyo, written by Pam Brady and directed by Chris Miller.

The head of Paramount Animation said the film will explore themes of identity and raise the central question of "what is a Smurf."
