Hasbro no longer funding any Dungeons & Dragons film adaptations

Dungeons & Dragons is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The IP is healthier than ever. Wizards of the Coast just released the new 2024 Player's Guide and Dungeon Master's Guide, and the Monster Manual is expected to be released on February 18, 2025. After the huge success of Larian's Baldur's Gate 3 (earning more than $90 million in the first six months of release), Wizards of the Coast is upping the ante on video games.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks confirmed that there is another video game in development in addition to the ones we already knew about.

The bad news is that Hasbro is no longer investing in any new Dungeons & Dragons movie adaptations. After the slightly lackluster box office performances of Dungeons & Dragons: Rogue Glory and Transformers: Origins, Hasbro said it would no longer fund any new movies or TV series.

“We want to engage fans where they want to play, and increasingly that’s through digital representations of the brands they love,” the company said.
