DC superhero movie "Aquaman" actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will cross over to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to DEADLINE: The actor who played "Black Manta" in Jason Momoa's movie will join Marvel and Disney Plus' new show as Simon "Miracle Man" Williams. Created by Stan Lee, Don Heck, and Jack Kirby, the hero made his comic debut in Avengers #9 in 1964. After his wealthy industrialist father's company began to fail due to rival Stark Industries, Simon was given the superpowers of supervillain Baron Zemo and became a standalone villain until he was eventually whitewashed in Avengers #160 and joined the team. Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton will serve as executive producer, and Andrew Guest, known for his work in a number of comedies including Brooklyn 99, will serve as head writer. Abdul-Mateen II has appeared in films such as Ambulance, Nia DaCosta's Candyman, Jordan Peele's Us, The Matrix and The Greatest Showman, and will reprise his role as Black Manta in the upcoming Aquaman 2. |
