The new Batman Penguin spin-off series announces a new female villain

Cristin Milioti has been cast in HBO Max's upcoming Batman spinoff The Penguin.

Milioti will play Sofia Falcone, the daughter of crime boss Carmine Falcone (played by John Turturro in the movie). The show is said to explore the Penguin's journey to power in Gotham's underworld. Sofia will go head-to-head with Colin Farrell's Penguin for control of Gotham City. The character was previously played by Crystal Reed on Fox's Gotham.

Craig Zobel, who directed the series East Side Nightmares, will helm the new spinoff. Zobel also directed the controversial 2020 horror thriller The Hunt, as well as episodes of HBO's Westworld and CBS All Access' One Dollar.

Lauren LeFranc (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) will write the script. Matt Reeves, director of The Batman, and Colin Farrell, the lead actor, will serve as executive producers of the series, along with Dylan Clark.
