"Chainsaw Man" won the prestigious American Harvey Award for Comics for the first time in two consecutive years

The representative work of cartoonist Itsuki Fujimoto, the dark masterpiece "Chainsaw Man", recently won the Best Manga Award of the authoritative American comic award "Harvey Award". It also won this title at this time last year. It is also the first time in the comics industry that a work has won the award for two consecutive years.

• Fujimoto was born in Akita Prefecture in 1993. His short comic "Love is Blind" won the Newcomer Manga Award in 2013. His representative work "Chainsaw Man" tells the story of Denji, a young boy who was deceived into debt and lived a poor life. He worked as a demon hunter with the chainsaw demon Pochita and barely survived, but one day he was targeted by a brutal demon, and the story of a dark hero began.

•The Harvey Award was formerly known as the Kobe Award, both of which are heavyweight awards in the comics industry. In 1987, the Kobe Award was split into two, the Eisner Award and the Harvey Award. Gary Gross, president of Fantasy Publishing, founded the Harvey Award in 1988. Just as the Eisner Award is named after "Will Eisner", the Harvey Award is named after one of the most influential comics pioneers - Harvey Kurtzman.

Today's Harvey Awards are nominated by the Harvey Awards Nominating Committee, and the final winning works are selected through public voting by professionals in the comics industry.
