American animation director complains about "The Battle of Two Cities": The cost of two seasons is enough for me to shoot 25 seasons

You may have heard that League of Legends: The Battle of Two Cities cost a whopping $250 million to produce over two seasons, and one anime creator claims that the money spent on just one season of the League of Legends spinoff was enough to make 25 seasons of his own work.

Thomas Astucker, creator and director of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, tweeted: "One season of League of Legends costs as much as 25 seasons of Miraculous."

One fan asked, "What would you do if you were given a budget like that of League of Legends and had no restrictions on the content of the script?" Astuk's response seemed to be a veiled reference to the total length of League of Legends. He wrote, "You have to do the best you can under the given conditions. With a budget of $250 million, Wonder Girls might be very different. But even so, I don't think I would do just two seasons. Somehow, I would feel uneasy about spending so much money on so few episodes."

The producers of League of Legends: War of Two Towers have explained why they decided not to continue production after Season 2. Some members of the team have been working on it for nine years, and it was time to move on to new projects.

Astuk also made some remarks about the anime industry, explaining, "Compared to Japanese anime series, the budget of Miracle Girls is high; compared to French anime series, the budget is high; but compared to American anime series, the budget is low. And obviously, any American anime series compared to League of Legends: Battle of the Two Cities has a low budget."

One person replied that the difference lies in passion and quality, but Astuq also responded to this, saying, "All anime workers are passionate and want to produce high-quality works. The only difference is the time and workload given to them. These two factors are determined by the budget."

Producer Alex Yi shares this view. He said: "We want the artists to have time to really develop their strengths and for professionals in different fields to do their best in this work and show their abilities. In many ways, the funding is just a reflection of the effort put into this work."
