The Lord of the Rings: The Power of the Rings seeks political correctness? Producer denies it

The Lord of the Rings: The Power of the Rings will be aired on September 2. Recently, some people on the Internet said that the series has a strong political correctness. The appearance of black elves and female dwarves without beards (the female dwarves in the original novel have beards) in the series has also aroused doubts from fans.

Patrick McKay, producer of The Lord of the Rings: The Power of the Rings, denied this claim and hoped that the show would become a classic like Tolkien's original work. McKay said: "It is very important that Tolkien did not create an allegory, he was not commenting on historical events of his time or another time, nor was he trying to convey a message related to contemporary politics. He wanted to create a timeless myth, a work that can transcend time."

McKay continued: "Every choice we made on the show was to stay true to Tolkien's wishes, and that's what the audience wants. We didn't want to adapt the work in a way that might feel dated, we aspire to be classic. The reason why the original Lord of the Rings books still have such a strong influence on people is that so much of it still remains relevant today, and we aspire to do the same thing. I want the audience to feel the same way when they watch the show and see these stories, characters and world settings."

The Lord of the Rings: The Power of the Rings is adapted from Tolkien's novel of the same name. The plot is set thousands of years before the stories of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. It is directed by J.A. Bayona and Wayne Yeh, starring Lenny Henry, Peter Mullan, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, etc. The first season will premiere on September 2, with a total of 8 episodes.
