New stills of The Lord of the Rings: The Power of the Rings will feature female orcs

Recently, foreign media IGN released new stills of "The Lord of the Rings" series "The Lord of the Rings: The Power of the Rings", in which the army of Orcs appeared. When a member of the production team of "The Power of the Rings" was interviewed by foreign media IGN, he said that there will be female Orcs in this new series.

Executive producer Lindsey Weber said: "I'd love to have some female orcs on the show, and the rest is up to the fans' imagination."

The origin of orcs has always been a thorny issue in Tolkien's mythology. Although the Lord of the Rings movie said that "they were once elves, and after being captured by the dark forces, they were tortured and maimed and turned into orcs", "The Silmarillion" believes that the great demon Morgoth captured a large number of elves in the First Age and bred them into orcs, but Tolkien himself seems to have different opinions on this issue.

It's unclear if the Second Age will address this, but Weber said the orcs in The Power of the Rings will be more alive than the orcs in the Lord of the Rings movies. "They're kind of like baby versions, they're not babies, of course. But they've come out of the darkness, so it's early days. They haven't seen as many battles, they don't have as many scars, they're out in the sunlight for the first time. So they're not as dark, they're not as muscular."

Set in the Second Age, thousands of years before the film adaptations of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, The Lord of the Rings: The Power of the Rings takes audiences back to a time when powerful magic was formed, kingdoms flourished and fell, humble heroes were tested, hope hung on a thread, and Tolkien's most powerful villain threatened to bring darkness to the world. Starting in a time of relative peace, the series tells the story of a group of new and old faces facing the resurgence of evil in Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of Lindon, the capital of the Elf, to the breathtaking Empire of Númenor and the farthest reaches of the map, the legacies of these kingdoms and characters live on.

The first season of The Lord of the Rings: The Power of the Rings will premiere on September 2, with a total of 8 episodes. It is reported that the first season cost $465 million, making it the most expensive TV series ever, and this is only one season.
