'Obi-Wan' breaks Disney Plus viewing record

According to the official Star Wars Twitter account, the premiere of Disney Plus' newest series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, broke records. It was the most-watched Disney Plus original series premiere to date, based on hours watched during its opening weekend.

Although the specific numbers have not yet been announced, the series broke the record set by the 2021 Marvel series "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier".

There are a lot of new episodes coming to the Star Wars series in the near future. The prequel to Rogue One will premiere on Disney Plus on August 31. A new Star Wars animated anthology, Tales of the Jedi, will be released this fall. Ahsoka, starring Rosario Dawson, and Skeleton Crew, starring Jude Law, will be released in 2023. The Acolyte and Lando, starring Donald Glover, have also been announced, but no release dates have been announced yet.
