The film is adapted from the new science fiction novel "Mickey7" by writer Edward Ashton released on February 15. The style is described as "The Martian" + "Dark Matter". Warner Bros. is responsible for its distribution.

The film tells the story of a man named Mickey7 who embarks on a colonization journey to the frozen land of Niflheim. He is a sacrificial "consumable" who is hired to do high-risk missions. After his death, he will be reborn as a clone with most of his memories preserved. This time he is also considered dead, and then he returns to the mission base and finds that a new clone, Mickey8, has taken his place. Mickey7 decides to resist.

The film's script was also written by Bong Joon-ho. This is his second collaboration with Warner Bros. after the American TV series "Parasite".
