The movie version of "A Step into the Past" is scheduled to be released in the fourth quarter of 2022. The film stars Louis Koo, Raymond Lam, Jessica Hsuan, Sonija Kwok and others, and was completed in July 2019.

The movie version of "A Step into the Past" is adapted from Huang Yi's historical time-travel novel of the same name. The TV series version of "A Step into the Past" was first aired in 2001. The then starring actors Louis Koo, Raymond Lam and Jessica Hsuan reunited 20 years later and returned to reprise their roles.

The story takes place nineteen years after the ending of the TV series "A Step into the Past". A group of five desperadoes, led by Max, accidentally traveled to the Warring States Period and intervened in the Qin-Qi War, using modern combat techniques to defeat the Qin army. King Qin Ying Zheng had to seek help from his long-retired master Xiang Shaolong. With the help of his confidante Shanrou and Galie, who had turned from darkness to light, Xiang Shaolong discovered Max's bigger conspiracy, copying the appearance of King Qin Ying Zheng and replacing him. The safety of his family, the expectations of the King of Qin, and the crazy plans of the desperadoes, what awaits Xiang Shaolong is an adventure that he must win.
