Sony Pictures' "Jumanji: The Next Generation" is scheduled to be released in December 2026

Sony Pictures has now scheduled the release date for Jumanji 3, starring Dwayne Johnson, to December 11, 2026.

Sony Pictures officially announced today that "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" is in production, and plans to switch to IMAX and other high-quality large-screen formats in a little over two years. Foreign media Deadline reported that the series' stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and "Nebula" Karen Gillan are in talks and are expected to return.

Jumanji first took audiences into a jungle adventure board game setting in 1995. In the film, the board game brings dangerous wildlife - and a missing boy played by Robin Williams - into the real world. The movie has become a classic in the hearts of many people for its unique creativity. So it was no surprise when Sony decided to give the IP a new lease of life and add new faces in 2017. The rebooted series, titled Jumanji: Jungle Adventure, stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan, and brings some modern changes to the story.
