James Gunn Wants to Spend $500 Million on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

James Gunn, director of the Guardians of the Galaxy series, said that if he shoots Guardians of the Galaxy 3 in his own way, he will need $500 million. The story of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 takes place after Avengers 4 and belongs to the fourth phase of MCU. It is expected to be released in 2023.

Recently, James Gunn was interviewed by foreign media Collider. Gunn discussed the difference between making high-budget Marvel blockbusters and small-scale TV series such as "Peacemaker". He said that one constant thing is that he is very sensitive to the budget. Gunn then said that even if he had $500 million, it would be just enough to make the "Guardians of the Galaxy 3" he wanted.

"When I'm writing a script, I naturally think about the budget, always. Even with something as big-budget as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it's still hard. You know, it's still hard to make it fit the budget because you want a $500 million movie. If I had $500 million, I could do what I want to do. That's the difficulty. I always have to think about the budget and make concessions because of the budget, but it usually comes to good results.
