Netflix's live-action version of "Avatar: The Last Airbender" officially starts filming today

Netflix's live-action adaptation of Nickelodeon's hit animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender has officially begun production today (November 17). Netflix confirmed today that filming is underway in Vancouver. Filming is currently in the "virtual production phase, which will allow visual effects to be completed in real time in camera, combining multiple environments on a single stage."

At the same time, the official also announced three new actors. Prince Zuko’s mentor, Uncle Iroh will be played by Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (who starred in "The Mandalorian"); Lin Jishao ("Anna and the King") will play the monk Gyatso; Liang Jian ("Star Wars: The Force Awakens") will play the commander of the Yan Kingdom’s army, Zhao.
