Holland said Spider-Man: No Return was the end of the series and he shed tears on the set when filming was finished

Tom Holland says he sees Spider-Man as the end of the franchise. The Spider-Man actor told Entertainment Weekly that if he continues to star in the Spider-Man series, the new movies will look very different from the three movies he has starred in so far.

“I think if we’re lucky enough to delve into these characters again, you’re going to see a very different version of them,” Holland said. “It’s not going to be the ‘Homecoming’ trilogy. We’re going to give it some time and try to build something different and change the tone of the movie. I don’t know if that’s going to happen. But we did treat ‘No Return’ as the end of it, and it was.”

The Spider-Man: Homecoming trilogy includes Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and the upcoming Spider-Man: No Homecoming. In addition to these films, Holland also played Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War, and he also appeared in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

Zendaya and Jacob Batalon play Michelle Jones and Peter's best friend Ned, both of whom appeared in the Spider-Man: Homecoming trilogy. Holland said that it was really exciting to finish filming Spider-Man: No Homecoming.

"We've been making these movies for five years, and we have a really good relationship as three of us," he said. "We've always been together. We've been on every movie, every tour. So this scene, (we don't know) if this is the last time (all of us) will work together. It's heartbreaking, but also very exciting because we're all going to be moving into the next chapter of our careers. So sharing this moment with them was probably the best day I've ever had on set. I don't think I've ever cried like this."

Spider-Man: No Homecoming is enough to mark the end of the trilogy. Doctor Octopus from Spider-Man 2 will appear in this movie, and Doctor Strange will also meet Peter Parker. Spider-Man: No Homecoming will be released in North America on December 17.

No live-action Spider-Man actor has played the character in more than three solo films. Director Sam Raimi had planned a Spider-Man 4 starring Tobey Maguire, but Raimi and Sony parted ways before production began on the film.
