Tencent Video said it will optimize its super on-demand service to support users to select and unlock episodes to protect consumer rights

Previously, there were rumors that Tencent Video's overseas version of "Sweeping Dark Storm" had no advanced on-demand content, which caused heated discussions among netizens. Although Tencent later clarified, netizens were completely unwilling to buy it. Most people believed that advanced on-demand was wrong. Today (September 1), Tencent Video responded to the report about advanced on-demand on its WeChat official account, saying that it will adjust the unlocking rules as soon as possible to support users to unlock episodes of their choice.

Statement on Optimizing Advanced On-Demand Services

Recently, Tencent Video’s advanced on-demand “episode-by-episode unlocking” rules have attracted widespread attention from the public. The Shanghai Consumer Council has also put forward relevant opinions, and Tencent Video attaches great importance to this.

After listening to the opinions of consumers and the Shanghai Consumer Council, in order to improve the user experience, Tencent Video will adjust the unlocking rules as soon as possible to support users to unlock selected episodes, while protecting the rights of consumers and allowing users to enjoy a more personalized drama-chasing experience.

Tencent Video previously set up a rule of unlocking episodes one by one, originally intended to protect the continuity of the content and respect the artistic creation of content creators, but it also caused inconvenience to some users who wanted to skip episodes. After this upgrade, we will continue to explore audio-visual service models that better meet user needs and conform to market rules. Thank you for your attention.
