According to foreign media reports, Disney Pictures announced that its streaming platform Disney+ will be launched in South Korea, Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan in November this year, further expanding its Asia-Pacific business. According to relevant forecasts, these three markets are expected to gain nearly 5 million subscribers and $330 million in revenue for Disney+ by the end of 2022. Currently, Disney+ has been launched in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Singapore in the Asia-Pacific region. The Disney streaming media launched in India, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand is called Disney+ Hotstar. According to statistics, as of the third fiscal quarter on July 3, Disney+ had 116 million subscribers worldwide, double the 58 million a year ago, exceeding Wall Street analysts' expectations and outpacing competitors such as Netflix. In the most recent quarter, Disney+ added 12 million new subscribers, and plans to have 240 million to 260 million subscribers worldwide by the end of 2024, five years after Disney+ was launched. In addition to Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu also maintained strong growth, with ESPN+ subscribers reaching 14.9 million and Hulu at 42.8 million. Currently, the total number of global subscribers for Disney's streaming business, including the three, is close to 174 million. |
