Batista: Guardians of the Galaxy completely changed my life

Dave Bautista has become a regular in Hollywood blockbusters, such as Denis Villeneuve's "Dune" and Zack Snyder's "Army of the Dead". But for this former wrestler turned actor, fame and fortune did not come easily.

In a recent interview, Dave Bautista talked about the changes in his life:

"If people really want to understand how much my life has changed, they have to understand where I came from and what I went through in wrestling and what I gave up to take a chance in acting. When I got the role of Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy, I hadn't had any work for three years. I was out of wrestling and I could have gone back to it, but I was still in a dilemma, but I took a chance. When I got the role, it wasn't just because I was broke. Now I say broke, I didn't even have my house, I had nothing. I sold everything, I sold everything I had made from wrestling. I was being targeted by the IRS and I had nothing."

Bautista said that his life completely changed after everyone saw him as Drax. He said: "After the release of Guardians of the Galaxy, everyone saw me as Drax, and it was like a door opened. So, Drax not only changed my career. My whole life trajectory was changed. My life was getting better and better, I was becoming more and more successful. Everything became a little bit unreal. It seems like yesterday that I borrowed money to eat and pay rent, and even borrowed money to buy Christmas presents for my children. It all happened so fast. But it really changed my life and gave me a new life."
