■ Story

Where there is shadow, there is light. As long as there is evil in the world, the shadow will rush to the scene anytime, anywhere to punish evil and shine the light of peace...

Synopsis: Criminals in the big city have formed a "League of Villains" and are on the lookout for gold, jewels, art, cutting-edge technology, information, and other items that are being collected from all over the world.
In order to protect world peace, private detectives worked day and night on their investigations.
However, crimes were becoming more sophisticated every day, and as a result, there was a need for more trained detectives.
So a "Detective Elementary School" was established to train talented detectives.
Kageman, also known as Kage Mantaro, is a poor student at Detective Elementary School.
One day, Kageman sees a flashy warning letter on the school bulletin board.
The letter of warning was issued by "Phantom Thief De Earl."
On the predicted day, they cornered De Halle, but in the back room, De Halle's henchman, One-Face, was waiting with a machine he had invented.
Shadow rays...By being exposed to these rays, your potential is brought out and you become more powerful.
At that time, an alien on his way back from a space trip crash-lands on Earth because his spaceship runs out of fuel. He finds De Aal on the roof of his hideout, where he is trying to power up by basking in the light.
Just as they were about to fire the ray, the clumsy First Face accidentally pressed the escape button, sending De Aal flying outside. The alien opened the door to escape while he still could, but Kage-Man came rushing in! Kage-Man and the alien collide, and in that moment the shadow ray switch is turned on.
The alien has merged with Kage-man's shadow!!
Shadow Man is born.
Shadow Man beats De Aal to a pulp when De Aal panics and attacks the powered-up Kage Man. Kage Man and Shadow Man cooperate to defeat De Aal, but when they think about it, they can't help but get in each other's way. The two visit a famous fortune teller in an attempt to separate them, but... "This is the power of a terrifying curse! If we don't solve 100 cases within a year, an evil curse will switch our bodies..."
...Kageman and Shadowman had no choice but to solve 100 cases within a year.

Detective Boy Kageman - TANTEI SHONEN KAGEMAN Review and Recommendation

Detective Boy Kageman is an anime series that aired on NHK Educational TV from 2001 to 2002, and is based on a manga by Aoni Yamane. The story follows Kageman, a poor student at Detective Elementary School, who combines with Shadowman in a battle with the phantom thief Des Aars to solve various cases. Below, we will explain in detail the appeal and features of this work, as well as recommended points.

The appeal of the story

The story of Detective Boy Kageman is based on the classic setting of a showdown between a detective and a phantom thief, but it also depicts the relationship and growth of Kageman and Shadowman. In particular, the power-up that Kageman gets when he combines with Shadowman, and the process of the two working together to solve cases are exhilarating to watch. In addition to the battle with the phantom thief Des Aars, various characters also appear, and each episode unfolds in its own way, keeping viewers from getting bored.

The story follows a pattern where a new incident occurs each time and Kage-Man and Shadow-Man solve it, but in the process, we also see Kage-Man's own growth and the changes in his relationship with Shadow-Man. In particular, the setting in which a fortune teller predicts that 100 incidents must be solved within a year creates tension in the viewer and draws them into the story.

Character Appeal

Each character in Detective Boy Kageman is unique and charming. The main character, Kageman, is a bad student at Detective Elementary School, but he grows as he combines with Shadowman. Shadowman is an alien who combines with Kageman's shadow, and it's fun to watch the two of them work together to solve cases.

The phantom thief Des Arts is Kage-Man's rival, and uses various tricks to toy with Kage-Man. Other supporting characters such as Chunchun and Buibui also appear and play an important role in each episode. These characters add excitement to the story and are beloved by viewers.

Animation and Music

Detective Boy Kageman's animation was produced by Studio Hibari, with character design by Kondo Takamitsu. The animation captures the world of the story, including the detective elementary school and the tricks of the phantom thief De Halle. The skills of color director and color designator Nagano Masami and cinematographer Watanabe Nobuyuki make it a visually enjoyable work.

The music is by Sachi Otani, and the opening theme "Serenity of Light and Shadow - Kage-man's Theme" is sung by Tokyo Pudding, which adds to the atmosphere of the story. Since there is no ending theme, the opening theme is what makes the work so memorable.

Recommended points

Detective Boy Kageman is based on the classic setting of a showdown between a detective and a phantom thief, but it also depicts the growth of the characters and the changes in their relationships. In particular, the cooperative relationship between Kageman and Shadowman and the battle with the phantom thief Des Aars are exhilarating to watch. In addition, the various characters that appear and the development of each episode keep viewers from getting bored.

This work is especially recommended for those who like detective stories and thief stories. It is also suitable for watching with the family as it is an anime for children. It is also recommended for those who want to enjoy the development of the story and the growth of the characters.

summary

Detective Boy Kageman is a fascinating anime series that depicts the confrontation between a detective and a phantom thief, but also the growth of the characters and the changes in their relationships. The cooperation between Kageman and Shadowman and the battle with the phantom thief Des Aars are exhilarating to watch, and the variety of characters keeps the viewer entertained. I recommend this series to people who like detective and phantom thief stories, people who want to enjoy children's anime, and people who enjoy story development and character growth.
