■ Main Characters

Satsuki Kakeru was born with heterochromia and is blind in his right eye. He grew up in an orphanage with his sister Satsuki Kikuri, and has been friends with his childhood friend Minase Yuka ever since they were in the orphanage. A few years ago, his sister Kikuri committed a mysterious suicide, and the shock of that incident caused him to become listless. However, thanks to Yuka's continued support, he has been able to return to a normal life, but he spends his days in idleness with no hope for the future.
Yuka Minami is Kakeru's childhood friend. She lost her parents at a young age and grew up in the same facility as Kakeru, but was eventually adopted by the Minanase family. She feels happy to be by Kakeru's side and wants to do everything she can to help him with anything he wants, but Kakeru himself is unable to accept these feelings. Perhaps because of her gentle and easy-going personality, she is often seen as younger than she actually is.
Misuzu Kusakabe A genuine onmyoji who inherited the bloodline of the Kusakabe School, a master of onmyodo. From an early age, she underwent rigorous training to become an onmyoji, and in addition to various techniques, she uses the five demon-slaying swords handed down in the Kusakabe family, commonly known as the Kusakabe Five Treasures, to defeat her enemies. She is particularly known for her leadership among her friends who are caught up in the "Red Night," when strange enemies appear.
Tachibana: A senior who is one year older than the others. She is the adopted daughter of Tachibana Daisuke, a novelist living in Ayamegaoka City. Since she is unable to speak, she usually communicates by writing on a sketchbook. The reason why she lost her ability to speak remains a mystery, as she has no memory of anything prior to the age of 13. Although she bears these two hardships, she has a very gentle, kind and tolerant personality, making her an older sister-like figure among the members who act together with her.
Yukiko Hirohara is a new part-time worker at the coffee shop "Tsyberiada" where Kakeru works. She is a bright and carefree girl who is a junior of Kakeru and Yuka at Koryokan Academy, and is active mainly in the "Research Department" where she is the president. Although Yukiko appears to have a bright personality, she was born in the conflict zone of the Drasvenia Federation and has a brutal past.
・Tajima Masahisa A delinquent boy who roams the streets of Ayamegaoka. He is isolated because he doesn't hang out with other people in the city, and sometimes he is hostile towards delinquent groups. He is always hungry, so he is often eating something. He is thought to be one of the biggest eaters in Ayamegaoka. Masahisa seems to have a straightforward personality, but inside he also seems to have a naivety that others cannot see.
・Momono Shiori A returnee from Italy who transferred to Kakeru and Yuka's class. She has a small body and a doll-like appearance. She is usually expressionless and shows little emotion. She seems to hate interacting with people, and tries to keep her distance from classmates who try to interact with her. However, Shiori seems to feel some kind of affinity with Kakeru, and sometimes she calls out to him herself.
A girl in the same class as Satsuki Kakeru. She is childhood friends with Teruya Tadashi, the class mood maker (or is that a problem child?). She calls Tadashi an "idiot who can't read the mood" and worries about him, but in most cases, Tadashi and Kaori hang out together. She has a cheerful personality. Her favorite type is someone who isn't afraid and speaks their mind.
Ayako Akamine is a school nurse at Koryokan Academy. She is rough and loves dirty jokes. She is a hedonist. Although she is a school nurse, she is a heavy smoker and has little sense of duty, but she is very kindhearted. She was originally an alumna of Koryokan Academy and was the head of the Crimson motorcycle gang, which was once feared in Ayamegaoka. There are still many people who cannot stand up to Ayako, even the principal of Koryokan Academy.

Comprehensive evaluation and recommendation of 11eyes - Eleven Eyes

"11eyes" is a TV anime series that aired in 2009, and the original is an 18+ game by Lass. This work depicts the battles of boys and girls who are suddenly drawn into another world, "Red Night." Below, we will provide a detailed review and recommendation of this work.

Story and Themes

The story of "11eyes" begins when the protagonist Satsuki Kakeru and his childhood friend Minase Yuka suddenly find themselves lost in a parallel world known as "Red Night." This parallel world is characterized by a blood-stained sky and a giant black moon, and strange monsters attack Kakeru and his friends. Kakeru and his friends are forced to fight for their survival, and together with their friends, they struggle to solve the mystery of "Red Night."

The theme of this work is "battle" and "bonds." Kakeru and his friends are forced to fight for their lives during the "Red Night," but in the process, they deepen their bonds with their comrades. Each character's past and trauma are also depicted, and it is moving to see them grow as they face themselves. In particular, the heavy theme of the suicide of Kakeru's sister, Kukuri, is at the center of the story, and the process of Kakeru recovering from the shock is depicted.

character

Each character in "11eyes" is unique and deep. The main character, Satsuki Kakeru, is impressive as he fights alongside Yuka and his friends despite his sister's suicide. Minase Yuka is Kakeru's childhood friend, and her gentle nature that supports Kakeru is appealing. Kusakabe Misuzu shows leadership as an onmyouji, and Tachibana Kikuri is a warm presence who watches over her friends despite her past that caused her to lose her ability to speak. Other characters such as Hirohara Yukiko, Tajima Masahisa, Momono Shiori, Nazuki Kaori, and Akamine Ayako also have their own backgrounds and worries that enrich the story.

The voice actors for the characters are also impressive, with a cast of experienced voice actors including Daisuke Ono, Mai Goto, Yu Asakawa, and Noriko Rikimaru. Their performances portray the emotions and growth of the characters realistically.

Animation and visuals

The animation for "11eyes" is produced by Doga Kobo, with character design and general animation direction by Shoji Hara. The visuals of the other world "Red Night" create a unique atmosphere, with blood-stained skies and a huge black moon. The battle scenes are also powerful, with detailed depictions of the characters' movements and expressions.

This is a work that highlights the technical skills of the staff, including art director Masato Miyake, color designer Kei Ishiguro, and cinematographer Yasushi Kimura. In particular, the visuals that focus on color and lighting to express the worldview of "Red Night" are impressive.

Music and Sound

The music for "11eyes" is produced by 5pb. and Supersweep, with music producer Michiko Koyanagi, music director Sho Fujimaru, and music by Shoichiro Sakamoto. The opening theme, "Arrival of Tears," is sung by Ayane, with lyrics, composition, and arrangement by Tatsh. The ending theme, "Sequentia," is sung by Asriel, with lyrics by KOKOMI, composition by Keisuke Kurose, and arrangement by Jun Murakami. These songs add to the atmosphere of the story and enhance the emotions of the viewer.

The sound design by sound director Yoshikazu Iwanami and sound effects director Yasumasa Koyama is also excellent, effectively expressing the battle scenes and the emotions of the characters. In particular, the background music and sound effects are impressive, focusing on the otherworldly feeling of "Red Night."
