Shu Huijun was sentenced to 3 years in prison and fined 80,000 yuan for reprinting pirated "One Piece" comics

Recently, the Intellectual Property Tribunal of Xuhui Court heard a case of reprinting pirated comics of One Piece and Haikyuu!. Wang was sentenced to three years in prison, suspended for three years, and fined 80,000 yuan for reprinting pirated comics of One Piece. April 26 is "World Intellectual Property Day".

It is reported that Wang is a comics fan who runs a website called Shuhui Comics Network and is known as "Shuhui Jun". In 2017, Wang found an overseas website that translated comics into Chinese several days faster than domestic genuine comics. So he reposted the pirated comics on his own website and used the time difference to make profits.

Wang also linked the pirated comics of One Piece to his own WeChat public account for users to click and watch. To prevent being detected, Wang replaced the previous pirated links with domestic genuine comic links after the domestic genuine comics were launched. Over the past two years, Wang has linked more than 1,300 comics of One Piece and Volleyball in this way, among which the linked pirated comics of One Piece, chapters 958, 959, and 960 have been read more than 100,000 times. At the same time, Wang also joined the Baidu Advertising Alliance on the website, opened advertising services on the WeChat public account, collected advertising fees, and ultimately made a profit of tens of thousands of yuan.

Not long ago, well-known domestic comic platforms such as Tencent Comics and Manban Comics collectively announced that the popular comic "One Piece" will officially adopt a paid model starting May 1st.
