Snyder: "Justice League" was originally planned to be released in two movies

The director's cut of Justice League, which is about to be released, will be four hours long. The film was originally planned to be made into one longer film, or two shorter films based on audience demand. According to an interview with The Film Junkee, the film's director Zack Snyder revealed that he had hoped that Justice League could be made into two films, released one month apart.

Zack Snyder withdrew from Justice League due to a family tragedy (his daughter committed suicide), and the film was then taken over by Avengers director Joss Whedon. After the film was completed, many details were different from Snyder's original plan, and the final length of the film was less than two hours.

Snyder's original plan for the film was four hours long, and he knew Warner Bros. wouldn't let him do that. "I do have that thought," he said. "Maybe we could split it in half and make it two two-hour movies."

“My original idea was to release the second part about a month after the first part,” he continued. “That was one of the ideas I had.” But that ultimately didn’t happen.
