The Earth is about to be "disaster" again! Sci-fi disaster film "Moonfall" starts filming

The latest sci-fi disaster blockbuster "Moonfall", directed by "disaster film master" Roland Emmerich ("Independence Day", "The Day After Tomorrow", "2012"), recently started shooting in Montreal. Oscar Lifetime Achievement Award winner Donald Sutherland was also revealed to have joined the starring lineup.

The film cost about $136 million to make, and stars Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson, Stanley Tucci, John C. Bradley, Charlie Plummer, Josh Gad, etc. The story tells that the moon leaves its orbit and begins to crash into the earth. A special team will arrive on the surface of the moon to uncover the secret of the moon's deviation from its orbit and save the earth from a catastrophe.

Donald Sutherland

Donald Sutherland plays the gatekeeper of secret NASA files who struggles with whether to tell the world the truth about the Apollo moon landings in the early 1970s; Berry plays an astronaut-turned-NASA administrator who has a clue to the impending disaster; Wilson plays a former NASA astronaut whose last mission ended in failure but who holds a clue to the disaster; and Bradley plays a genius who deduces that the moon has fallen out of orbit.

The current COVID-19 epidemic situation in the United States is severe. It is very bold to launch this $136 million independent project during this period. Lionsgate acquired the North American rights to the film at the end of last year. The film was also sold high-profile at last year's Cannes Film Festival. The film is scheduled to be released globally in 2022.
