Star Wars 9 screenwriter originally wanted to split the movie into two parts

Chris Terrio, the screenwriter of "Star Wars 9: The Rise of Skywalker", was recently interviewed and said that he always wanted to split the 9th part into two parts, rather than the current crammed 142 minutes.

"I wish we could do that. There's a lot of plot in a movie, and as a writer you always want to make it more organic. It's always been a dream of mine to split it into two parts if there's a way to do that."

But he said George Lucas's vision was for a nine-film arc, "which was the natural length of the saga. So, other than the first few discussions, we never really pushed for a two-parter."

Terrio said he was heartbroken to give up ideas that would have given the story more depth and identity. "From my personal perspective, not from the perspective of the production company, I really hope it can be divided into two parts."

Chris Terrio had previously won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for "Argo", and series like "Avengers", "Harry Potter", "Twilight" and "The Hunger Games" actually split the finale into two parts.

Do you think this approach would have made the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga better?
