According to foreign media reports, the sequel to the Japanese fantasy action film "47 Ronin" starring Keanu Reeves has started shooting in Budapest. It is directed by actor, director and action director Yuan Wenzhong ("Mulan"), and stars "Ant-Man" and "Jupiter" actress Anna Akana, "John Wick: Chapter 3" actor Mark Dacascos and others.

"Forty-seven Ronin", released in 2013, tells the story of a group of samurai who avenge their dead master. The sequel takes place in the present day, more than 300 years after the first film. It is described as a "genre hybrid film that includes martial arts, action, horror and cyberpunk". It is produced by Universal 1440 Entertainment, a subsidiary of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, and will be directly released on streaming media (previously said to be Netflix).

"47 Ronin" released in 2013 was not a big hit in terms of both word of mouth and box office. With an investment of $175 million, it grossed $151 million worldwide. After including the costs of publicity and distribution, it is estimated that Universal suffered a loss of nearly $200 million. The Rotten Tomatoes rating is 16%, and the IMDb rating is 6.3.

This movie also brought Keanu Reeves to a low point in his career. After the movie was released, the six major Hollywood studios basically stopped looking for him to be the leading actor. It was not until the "John Wick" series that he became popular again, and then there were sequels such as "The Matrix 4". Considering the differences between the operation logic of streaming media and traditional theater distribution, perhaps this kind of fantasy genre that mixes the East and the West can become popular on streaming media.
