Too conservative! Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker scores 7 points after IGN lifts ban

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be released in theaters around the world on December 20, and today is the day when the global word-of-mouth and ratings of the film are released. The first batch of media feedback has been released, and IGN gave this final chapter of the new Star Wars trilogy a score of 7, which is not outstanding.

IGN's "Star Wars 9: The Rise of Skywalker" scored 7 points - okay.

"Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is an entertaining but deeply flawed finale that ends on a very conservative note."

IGN's overall review:

There's a lot going on in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, a movie designed to touch audiences on multiple levels while grappling with 42 years of storytelling - perhaps too much for a single film.

While love, passion, and nostalgia are evident in the film, the filmmakers’ fear of disappointing the audience is also evident, and this anxiety inspires many strange story choices and clumsy narrative execution.

The film's heart-tugging moments, stunning technical feats, and ruthless action may be enough for passionate fans who just want to strap on their blast helmets and let the Force flow into them. But for those who crave a coherent, logical story told in a carefully constructed background universe, this film that marks the end of the Skywalker saga will bring mixed feelings.

But even if it's not perfect, the Star Wars franchise still offers so many moments and memories to celebrate, and this finale to the Skywalker saga, if nothing else, is a fitting tribute to the franchise as a whole.

The current score of this film on Metacritic is even worse - only 57 points (average score of 24 media outlets).
