'Joker' won't be released in theaters where 'Dark Knight Rises' shooting took place

The independent film "Joker" jointly launched by Warner and DC won the Venice Golden Lion Award not long ago and will be released in North America on October 4. However, the scene in which the Joker shoots and injures people in the film may cause uneasiness to audiences in some regions. As you all know, when "Batman: The Dark Knight Rises" was released in 2012, a large-scale shooting occurred at the "Century 16" cinema in Aurora, USA, which killed 12 people and injured 70 people. Therefore, Warner and Cinemark Theaters decided that "Joker" will no longer be released in this theater.

In addition, the families of the victims of the Aurora shooting jointly issued an open letter to Warner CEO Ann Sarnoff today. In the letter, the victims' families did not ask Warner Bros. to stop releasing the movie "Joker", but called on Warner to use its influence to join their gun reform proposals. The purpose of these victims' families is to make the community safer; the victims' families also asked Warner to stop political assistance to candidates who oppose mandatory reforms and actively lobby for gun reforms; to provide assistance and funding donations to survivors' funds and gun violence intervention projects to help gun violence survivors, thereby reducing the gun violence that occurs every day in the communities they serve.
