Even with the re-release of Avengers 4, it is unlikely that the box office will surpass Avatar in the near future.

Last week on June 28, Marvel and its parent company Disney officially launched the re-release of "Avengers 4: Endgame" in some regions. This round of re-release added an 18-second Easter egg shot to the film, which was seen as Disney's move to surpass "Avatar", which has dominated the box office throne for a decade.

"Avengers: Endgame" earned $5.5 million in North America and $2.3 million overseas in three days of re-release, bringing the revised global box office total to $2.76 billion, which is about $27 million short of the historical total box office record of $2.788 billion set by "Avatar."

According to insiders in the box office statistics department, "Avengers 4" is unlikely to get a box office of 27 million US dollars in the near future, which means that it has little chance of breaking the record of Cameron's "Avatar" at this stage.

For Marvel and Disney, challenging the record of "Avatar" is not the only reason for the early re-release of this film. This is obviously also a means of promoting "Spider-Man: Far From Home", after all, the latter is a direct continuation of the plot of "Avengers 4"; the Spider-Man played by Holland is also regarded as one of the core superheroes in the "post-endgame" era.

Of course, there is still a high probability that "Avengers 4: End Game" will break the record of "Avatar". After this re-release only two months later, Disney may decide to release it again later this year or even next year to eat up the last gap of more than 20 million US dollars.
