Edge of Tomorrow 2 is in production, and Cruise is expected to return

According to Deadline's exclusive news, Warner Bros. is developing a sequel to the 2014 film "Edge of Tomorrow" starring Tom Cruise. Warner intends to have director Doug Liman, male lead Tom Cruise and female lead Emily Blunt all return.

"Edge of Tomorrow" is adapted from the Japanese comic novel "All You Need Is Kill". It has grossed over $370 million worldwide and has a 90% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Edge of Tomorrow 2 has been in preparation for many years, with screenwriters Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse returning as early as 2016. Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt have both been notified and may continue to star.

"Edge of Tomorrow" is set against the backdrop of a mysterious alien attack on Earth. Major Bill Cage died tragically in his first battle, but for some unknown reason he was reborn. In the cycle of life and death, Bill became more and more clear about how to defeat the enemy, and ultimately achieved victory.
