What was the stillborn "Alien 5" like? Even Cameron thought it was great!

What was the stillborn "Alien 5" like? Even Cameron thought it was great!

Neill Blomkamp, the famous director who made a splash with District 9, has been having a rough year. Several projects he developed in recent years have come to nothing, including the new Alien film Alien 5, which is said to have been aborted. At the Rome Film Festival recently, Sigourney Weaver, the heroine of the Alien series, talked about this film.

Although Blomkamp's Alien film never entered the formal casting stage, Sigourney Weaver said in an interview: "I was working with Cameron at the time, and we were almost about to start, but then it was stopped by Fox. Neil had a lot of projects to do, so we had to wait."

"I'm busy with Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 right now. I love working with Neil and I think he can do a great job. James Cameron also thinks it's a great idea, but you never know... I think Neil has three projects going on at the same time now."

According to Neill Blomkamp's plan at the time, this Alien movie bypassed "Alien 3" and "Alien 4", and the plot would continue to develop immediately after "Alien" and "Alien 2". However, during the preparation period, Ridley Scott's "Prometheus" and "Alien: Covenant" were released first, and the project was eventually aborted.

The three projects of Neil mentioned by Sigourney Weaver are probably the following three films:

As for the sequel to District 9, Neil once said that he "intends to make a new film with the same world view";

Greenland, a disaster thriller starring “Captain America” Chris Evans;

And the reboot of the classic sci-fi film "RoboCop".

I hope that the next three films can help Neill Blomkamp regain the charm of "District 9".
