The award ceremony will be held in New York on October 18 this year. Ang Lee, who has won three Oscars, has been nominated for the American Directors Guild Award four times. He won two Directors Guild Awards for Brokeback Mountain and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Thomas Schlamme, president of the Directors Guild, praised Ang Lee as "a legendary director and a Taiwanese filmmaker who is still emerging." The list of winners of the Directors Guild of America's Lifetime Achievement Award this year includes Fox Searchlight President Nancy Utley, U.S. Congresswoman Amy Klobuchar, renowned costume designer Ann Ross, and Screen Actors Guild-SAG senior adviser John Maguire.
