At auction, a C-3PO head used in 1977's "Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope" is set to sell for more than $800,000. According to reports, C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels has decided to sell his personal "Star Wars" collection, which includes C-3PO heads and other robot parts, original scripts, and even parts of the Millennium Falcon that Daniels rescued from a fire after filming of "Star Wars 6: Return of the Jedi". The C-3PO head sold at Propstore Auction for $843,051, below analysts' forecast of $1.2 million. The head was one of two damaged C-3PO costumes used in the scene where the droid was attacked by Tusken Raiders alongside Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker and Kenny Baker's R2-D2. It also appeared in the garbage compaction scene and the final awards ceremony scene in Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope. Daniel personally guarantees the authenticity of the piece, which is the only complete C-3PO helmet from the original Star Wars movie currently in private hands. Daniels's C-3PO is the only character to appear in all the major Star Wars movies to date, so his collection includes bits and pieces from all three major eras. Other items include casino chips used by BB-8 in Star Wars: Episode 8 The Last Jedi, Daniels' handwritten script notes from Star Wars: Episode II The Clone Wars, and a page from his personal journal about his meeting with George Lucas before filming Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. There are even bits and pieces from other Star Wars projects, such as the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. Last October, an X-wing fighter from Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope sold for a record-breaking $3.135 million. |
