Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 grosses over $280 million worldwide this weekend

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3"'s global weekend box office has risen rapidly, now jumping to 282 million US dollars, including 114 million US dollars in North America and 168 million US dollars overseas.

According to Comscore, the third and final "Guardians of the Galaxy" film directed by James Gunn performed better than the 2014 "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1", which only took in $94 million in North America, but was not as good as 2017's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2", which opened with $146 million in North America.

Compared with the movies of the same period, the box office of "Guardians of the Galaxy 3" is slightly behind the recent popular game adaptation movie "Super Mario Bros. Movie", but better than the previous "Ant-Man 3" (104 million US dollars). The North American box office of "Super Mario Bros. Movie" was 137 million US dollars in three days over the weekend.

All three Guardians of the Galaxy films received an A grade on CinemaScore.
