In an interview with IGN, Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent said that the second season of the highly anticipated animated adaptation of the hit game "League of Legends: War of Two Cities" will not be broadcast in 2023. Laurent said in the interview: "I just saw the third episode of the second season before I flew to China, so we are still making progress. But it is not ready yet, and there are two reasons. First, we want to ensure quality and not rush it, so it takes time. This is a good reason." Netflix has already renewed the second season of "The Battle of Two Cities" in 2021. Fans have been looking forward to it, but the official has not given a specific date. Laurent continued: "The bad reason is that, to be honest, we didn't know at the beginning whether the first season would be successful... If I had known, we could have started making the second season earlier, but we were not sure, so we waited a while, and now we are paying the price for waiting. So unfortunately it will not be released this year." This animated adaptation of the hit MOBA game has been a critical and acclaimed success. Created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, it became the first streaming series ever to win an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Series, among many other awards. |
