Netflix to release prequel miniseries The Witcher: Blood Origin

Netflix has adapted The Witcher TV series and animated movies based on novels and games. Although the second season has not yet aired, today (July 28), another live-action prequel series was confirmed, called The Witcher: Blood Origin.

According to Netflix Witcher producer Lauren Hissrich on social media, the story of "The Witcher: Blood Origin" is set 1,500 years before the novels and games, when the worlds of monsters, humans and elves merged into one world, and the first wizard/demon hunter was born.

The Witcher: Blood Origin is written by Lauren Hissrich and Declan de Barra, who wrote the series for Season 1. The prequel will bring together the events of the "Meeting of Worlds" to tell the story of the first witcher/witcher and the birth of a new world.

"World Confluence" is a catastrophe that occurred 1500 years ago in the novel. It has huge room for development and gaps for the entire story of The Witcher, which will give the creative team great freedom. However, it is not clear whether the prequel can still attract the attention of audiences and players without Geralt as the protagonist.

The specific broadcast schedule of "The Witcher: Blood Origin" is not yet clear.
