The New York Times recently released its monthly picture book/comic bestsellers list for early January, of which four books, three from Japan, made the list. The best-selling Japanese comics on the list include: · No. 3: Chainsaw Man Volume 1 (Fujimoto Fuji) · No. 11: "Spy Play" Volume 1 (Endo Tatsuya) · No. 12: Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 18 (Akutami, Lower Part) · No. 14: Chainsaw Man Volume 2 (Fujimoto Fuji) Fujimoto's "Chainsaw Man" ranked 4th in December, while Hayao Miyazaki's "Souna's Journey" ranked 8th in the same month. "Chainsaw Man" volumes 2, 3 and 4 ranked 10th, 11th and 15th respectively. The English version of the manga "Chainsaw Man" is published by Viz Media in North America, with both physical and digital versions released simultaneously. According to ANN, the manga was first released in North America in 2019. The reason why the manga has been selling well recently is due to the recent TV animation produced by MAPPA. |
