Black Panther 2 has grossed over $800 million worldwide

Black Panther 2 has now grossed more than $800 million worldwide. Driven by a strong Christmas holiday weekend, Black Panther 2 added more than $5 million to its three-day weekend box office, with an estimated $3 million added to Monday's box office.

Black Panther 2, which set a record for its opening weekend last month and performed strongly in markets around the world, has also been hit by a series of obstacles, including the spread of the coronavirus, influenza and RSV among communities, the lack of a release in China, and a more somber story and overall tone for the sequel following the tragic death of the first film's protagonist.

As a result, Black Panther 2 still did enough to qualify as a blockbuster and become the sixth-highest-grossing film of 2022 (Avatar 2 was fifth), but unfortunately fell short of expectations and now seems unlikely to hit the $1 billion mark.
