The original Harry Potter film series ended 10 years ago, and the prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them focused on a whole new set of characters. Warner Bros. Discovery's new CEO David Zaslav has previously said he would love to bring Harry Potter to TV, and his idea has recently been backed by another senior executive. Speaking at Content London, a UK TV symposium, Channing Dungey, chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. Television (WBTV), echoed Zaslav’s sentiments. “We have huge ambitions for this and we’re having a lot of different conversations and discussions going on,” she said. However, she also admitted that there is no upcoming related content, but Warner Bros. has been considering it. She said: "We have a lot of interest and enthusiasm for this, so the audience is absolutely... ready, they want to see this content, so we just need to figure out what to do next." It's unclear whether Dungey will be a special like Return to Hogwarts, a game show like The House Game, a spin-off like Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, or even an animated special. Dungey continued, "David Zaslav has been much more open to us exploring all of our animated IP and being able to produce on different platforms. HBO Max, of course, would be our first choice, but we've already done a big deal with Amazon that will showcase some of our DC branded content in an animated format." |
