RR Martin: The time jump of "House of the Dragon" has caused dissatisfaction: It will take four seasons to tell the story

The plot of the American TV series "House of the Dragon" is completely different from that of "Game of Thrones", and the sudden time jump in the recent plot has also sparked heated discussions among fans of the series. Recently, the original author George RR Martin gave his opinion on this American prequel series.

He wrote on his blog: "The Sopranos had 13 episodes per season, but just a few years later, Game of Thrones had only 10. If House of the Dragon had 13 episodes per season, perhaps we could show all the things we have to 'time jump' about... although this might lead some viewers to complain that the show is 'too slow' and 'nothing happens'."

Martin said he was "delighted" to still have 10 hours of story to tell each season, noting that shows like Rings of Power had only eight episodes in their first season, while his own show Black Wind had only six.

The novelist predicts that at the pace of House of the Dragon, "from beginning to end, House of the Dragon will require four full seasons of 10 episodes each."

Although House of the Dragon's time jump has caused controversy among some viewers, Martin believes that the show's creator, Ryan Condal, "has handled the 'jump' very well." "I really, really like young Alicent and Rhaenyra, and I like the adult versions, and the actresses who play them," he added.
